Car yard update

Double-decked KISS electric trains ordered by “Azerbaijan Railways” CJSC from “Stadler Rail Group” were first brought into Azerbaijan in 2015. These trains were launched on Baku-Sumgayit route on 12 September 2015 and President Ilham Aliyev attended the launching ceremony of the train. Currently 9 KISS electric trains are being used on Azerbaijan railways. These trains are on Absheron circular line, Baku-Ganja and Baku-Gabala routes.  

A passenger train consisting of 10 cars made by Stadler arrived in Baku on 29 March 2019. A speed train consisting of these cars is planned to be used on Baku-Tbilisi-Kars-Ankara route. On 3 April 2019, President Ilham Aliyev got familiar with these cars. Additional 10 cars made by “Stadler” were brought to Azerbaijan in September 2020.
 
Under the agreement signed between “Azerbaijan Railways” CJSC and “Stadler” on 25 November 2019, it was planned to procure 10 5-car single-decked FLIRT trains for inter-city and commuter travel in the 1st phase. 4 trains equipped with a diesel engine will be used for inter-city transportation. 6 of these trains run on AC. 3 of them will be used for inter-city transportation, 3 will be used as commuter trains. According to the terms and conditions of the contract, the first FLIRT train will be brought to Azerbaijan in 2022.   
 

“Azerbaijan Railways” CJSC continues to update its locomotive yard in order to improve and expand its activities in passenger transportation. 10 electric passenger locomotives ordered under the contract signed between “Azerbaijan Railways” CJSC and ALSTOM SA and running on dual-system (running both on DC and AC) have been brought to Azerbaijan.
